Indonesian marines join RIMPAC drills in Hawaii
Jakarta, June 29 -- Indonesian Navy marines joined troops from Malaysia, Fiji, Peru, Sri Lanka and the Philippines in the US-hosted Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise, taking part in air assault and urban combat drills in Hawaii.
The multinational training has been underway at the Bellows Marine Corps Training Area near Honolulu since Friday, June 26, Marine Corps Information Office Head Colonel Rana Karyana said on Monday.
"Indonesian Marines participated in air assault operations and close-quarter battle (CQB) drills alongside personnel from other participating countries," Karyana said.
He said the air assault exercise simulated operations using an MV-22 Osprey aircraft, covering mission stages from landing through ground combat.
