Jakarta, Oct. 14 -- The Ministry of Industry is currently preparing a new regulation regarding factory safety against radiation exposure.

"We are preparing the regulation requiring industrial areas and factories in Indonesia to report the results of Radiation Portal Manufacturing (RPM) surveys," Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said when met at the Investor Daily Roundtable in Jakarta on Tuesday.

According to him, this policy was implemented as a mitigation effort after the exposure to the radionuclide Cesium-137 (Cs-137) in the Cikande Modern Industrial Estate, Serang, Banten.

In the future, the ministry will require every industry to report the amount of radiation exposure quarterly.
