Bekasi, West Java, March 9 -- The Indonesian government has received a 30-hectare land grant from Lippo Group to develop around 140,000 vertical housing units under the 3 Million Homes program.

Hashim Djojohadikusumo, head of the government's housing task force, attended the handover ceremony at the development site in Cikarang, Bekasi District, West Java, on Sunday.

"Demand for habitable housing in Indonesia remains huge. Based on government data, between 9 and 15 million people do not own homes," he said.

He added that around 27 million Indonesians currently live in uninhabitable housing.
