Jakarta, June 18 -- Culture Minister Fadli Zon stated that locally produced films have dominated the domestic market, as reflected in their market share, which has reached 67 percent to date.

"Indonesians now prefer watching Indonesian films. Their market share is 67 percent. Roughly 67 percent of films shown in cinemas are Indonesian films," Zon remarked during a press conference here on Thursday.

However, he acknowledged that film distribution still faces challenges, especially in regions that do not yet have cinema screens.

According to him, the uneven availability of cinemas is closely linked to investment. Therefore, he called on the private sector to increase investment in support of cinema development.
