Banda Aceh, Nov. 7 -- Indonesia's Foreign Ministry plans to work with the Aceh provincial government to support diplomatic efforts aimed at helping Myanmar end its long-running internal conflicts, a senior diplomat said Thursday.

"We at the Foreign Affairs Ministry have been striving to help stakeholders in Myanmar reach a peace agreement," ministry official Muhammad Anshor said during a meeting with Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf in Banda Aceh.

In a statement released Friday, Anshor said the ministry seeks to provide a safe and neutral platform for dialogue among Myanmar's warring parties, who he noted have yet to show readiness to compromise for peace.
