Jakarta, Feb. 26 -- Indonesian Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid has emphasized that data transfers under the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART) between Indonesia and the United States comply with Indonesia's Personal Data Protection Law.

"The Personal Data Protection Law remains in force, and we will continue to safeguard our citizens' data," she said in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Hafid explained that the agreement strengthens existing data flow practices, noting that cross-border data transfers are not new, as they have long occurred through the use of international digital platforms, including those based in the United States.
