Jakarta, Aug. 16 -- The Indonesian government is preparing various cultural attractions and live tourism events to celebrate Independence Day.
"This is concrete support from the Ministry of Tourism to realize the spirit of independence for every individual to share in the joy and pride of being Indonesian," Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana said in a statement on Saturday.
She noted that the cultural performances aim to showcase Indonesia's tourism appeal through culture, art, and music.
A series of arts and cultural shows will be presented during the Proclamation of Independence ceremony at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on August 17. The performances will involve more than 1,000 dancers and feature local musicians.
