Jakarta, April 16 -- The Ministry of Health is preparing to implement a regulation on electronic cigarettes or vapes, as stipulated in Government Regulation Number 28 of 2024.

Head of the Ministry's Public Communication and Service Bureau Aji Muhawarman said the regulation will control e-cigarettes with provisions equivalent to conventional cigarettes.

"The regulation of e-cigarettes in Government Regulation No. 28 of 2024 includes age restrictions, advertising controls, as well as product content standards," Muhawarman said in a written statement on Wednesday.

The regulation prohibits the use of e-cigarettes among individuals under 21 years of age and restricts advertising including on social media.
