Jakarta, Oct. 10 -- The Indonesian government has set a target to upgrade and empower at least 65 villages across the country through the Red and White Fishing Villages (KNMP) program by the end of 2025 or early 2026.

"We have commenced the program with 65 villages covered. Currently, 65 villages are under development across Indonesia. Hopefully, the process will be completed by December 2025 or January next year," Marine Affairs and Fisheries Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono stated.

The minister made the statement on the sidelines of the Indonesia International Sustainability Forum 2025 in Jakarta on Friday.
