Jakarta, Oct. 27 -- The Indonesian government is aiming to expand 5G internet network coverage to 32 percent by 2030.
Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Nezar Patria announced the target during the launch of "the Empowering Indonesia Report 2025" in Jakarta on Monday.
He said the current 5G network availability in Indonesia remains below 10 percent, far behind neighboring countries such as Malaysia, which has reached 80 percent.
To accelerate development, Patria called for stronger collaboration among stakeholders in the telecommunications industry to expand 5G coverage nationwide.
Indonesia, however, has made notable progress in 4G connectivity, which now reaches 97 percent of residential areas, he added.
