Indonesia seizes 2.6 tons of liquid meth from Tanzanian vessel
Batam, Aug. 19 -- Indonesian authorities have seized 2.6 tons of liquid methamphetamine from a Tanzanian-flagged vessel in Riau waters during a joint operation by narcotics, customs, and police officers, officials said Tuesday.
Director of Enforcement of The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) Brigadier General Roy Hardi Siahaan said on Tuesday (Aug. 18) that the operation stemmed from intelligence regarding narcotics being transported from Sarawak, Malaysia, into Indonesian waters.
"We formed a joint operation involving the BNN, Customs, and the Riau Islands Regional Police. We intercepted the vessel on August 17 and towed it for inspection," Siahaan said in a statement.
