Bantul, Yogyakarta, Oct. 4 -- The Indonesian government's transmigration program is not merely about relocating people but forms part of a broader national development strategy, Deputy Minister of Transmigration Viva Yoga Mauladi said on Saturday.

"Transmigration is not just about moving people from one place to another. It is one of the national development strategies," he stated during a visit to a transmigration site in Karangtengah, Bantul District, Yogyakarta.

The site currently houses transmigrants relocated from conflict-affected regions in Aceh, Central Kalimantan, and Papua.

Yoga assured that the government continues to provide support and training to strengthen the economic resilience of transmigrant households.
