Jakarta, July 29 -- Japanese foreign direct investment (FDI) in Indonesia gained stronger momentum in the first half of 2026, the Investment and Downstreaming Ministry/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) reported here on Wednesday.

During the first six months of the year, Japan emerged as Indonesia's fourth-largest source of foreign direct investment, channeling US$1.9 billion into the country. The figure accounts for 6.2 percent of total incoming FDI during the period.

"This partnership continues to show a strengthening trend," the ministry's Deputy for Investment Climate Development Riyatno stated at a book launch event.
