Jakarta, April 26 -- Culture Minister Fadli Zon held diplomatic meetings in France to seek international backing for Indonesia's bid to join UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage committee for 2026-2030.

Accompanied by Ambassador Mohamad Oemar, he met ambassadors and delegates from Organization of Islamic Cooperation member states at UNESCO headquarters.

"This meeting is an opportunity to campaign for and secure support for Indonesia's candidacy," the minister said in a statement on Sunday.

Indonesia reaffirmed its commitment to taking a larger role in safeguarding global intangible cultural heritage.
