Jakarta, Oct. 1 -- Indonesian Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi is rallying support from member states of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Council for Indonesia's candidacy to the council for the 2026-2028 term.

"Becoming an ICAO Council member offers a valuable opportunity to serve, contribute, and collaborate more closely with the international community in shaping a global civil aviation sector that is safe, resilient, sustainable, and inclusive for all nations," he said here on Thursday.

The minister has previously put forward Indonesia's candidacy for the ICAO Council Part III for the 2026-2028 term to Jakarta-based ambassadors and representatives of ICAO member states.
