Jakarta, Aug. 10 -- Indonesia said its push for food self-sufficiency will remain open to global trade, with the government aiming to strengthen domestic production while preserving access to international supply chains.

Special Adviser to the Minister of Agriculture for Agriculture Production Enhancement, Hasil Sembiring, said the government would prioritize domestic production for commodities where greater self-sufficiency is economically, environmentally, and socially sustainable, while continuing to rely on trade where domestic supply remains structurally insufficient.
