Bandung, West Java, Oct. 17 -- Indonesia's Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail, known as Whoosh, has carried more than 12 million passengers since it began commercial operations two years ago, operator PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) said on Friday.

The $7.27 billion railway, which launched on Oct. 17, 2023, is the first high-speed rail system in Southeast Asia and the Southern Hemisphere.

"Whoosh has completed nearly 40,000 trips with 99.9 percent on-time performance and zero accidents," KCIC Corporate Secretary Eva Chairunisa told reporters in Jakarta.
