Jakarta, May 26 -- Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto arrived at Orly Airport in Paris on Tuesday morning to begin a state visit aimed at strengthening strategic ties between Indonesia and France.

Upon arrival, Prabowo was welcomed by French Minister of Labor and Solidarity Jean-Pierre Farandou and a French guard of honor.

Hundreds of Indonesians also welcomed the president at his hotel in Paris.

"This marks the beginning of President Prabowo's state visit to France, which had originally been scheduled last year before being rescheduled several times," Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya wrote on social media on Tuesday.

Teddy said Indonesia and France currently maintain extensive strategic cooperation.
