Jakarta, Sept. 29 -- Deputy Speaker of Indonesia's People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Lestari Moerdijat has urged stronger public awareness of disaster management to better address the impacts of climate change.
"Efforts to raise knowledge and improve people's ability to mitigate disasters must be carried out consistently to face the challenges posed by potential natural disasters," she said on Monday.
Moerdijat delivered her remarks at the 2025 Community Research and Innovation User Capacity Building event, organized by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).
She stressed that disaster preparedness should also draw from local wisdom to support sustainable resource management.
