Jakarta, April 4 -- Indonesia's Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar extended Easter greetings to Christians and called for prayers for peace, harmony and national unity, officials said on Saturday.

"I, Nasaruddin Umar, Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, wish you a Happy Easter 2026," he said in Jakarta.

He said Easter is not only a religious observance but also a moment to strengthen spiritual values within society.

The minister urged Christians to use the occasion as a foundation to reinforce solidarity and maintain social harmony across communities.

"I call on Christians, in the joy of Easter, to pray for the people and the nation so that Indonesia remains peaceful, calm and harmonious," he said.
