Jakarta, March 3 -- Indonesia's Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) aims to accelerate growth of the national halal industry in 2026, strengthening certification systems and expanding international recognition to cement the sector's role in the economy.

"The year 2026 is a momentum to accelerate the national halal industry," BPJPH head Ahmad Haikal Hasan said in a statement issued in Jakarta on Tuesday, expressing optimism about stronger growth in the halal business ecosystem.

He said the halal value chain contributed 27 percent of Indonesia's gross domestic product in 2025, equivalent to about 4,832 trillion rupiah (US$81.5 billion), underscoring the sector's expanding role in Southeast Asia's largest economy.
