Ambon, Sept. 3 -- Indonesia's food security remains secure despite the potential impact of El Nino on production and supplies, Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan said on Thursday.

Hasan cited ample supplies of rice, fish, eggs and chicken, saying commodity availability remains a key indicator of national food security.

Government data show Indonesia's national rice reserves stood at about 5.25 million tons as of August 2026, providing a substantial buffer for domestic demand.

Rice production in 2026 is projected at 34.77 million to 38.6 million tons, while domestic demand is estimated at about 31.10 million tons.
