Jakarta, July 20 -- The Director General of Defense Forces at Indonesia's Ministry of Defense, Air Vice Marshal Hendrikus Haris Haryanto, stated that the country's first aircraft carrier, the Giuseppe Garibaldi, is scheduled to arrive in September 2026.

Haryanto made the statement during a hearing with Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR) at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday.

"The ship is scheduled to arrive on September 20, 2026," he said in a meeting which was broadcast on Parliament TV's YouTube channel.

To prepare for the vessel's arrival, the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) has undertaken various measures, including sending 100 personnel to Italy to train as the aircraft carrier's crew members.
