Indonesia's Desak claims women's speed gold in World Climbing Chamonix
Jakarta, July 12 -- Indonesian climber Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi captured the gold medal in the women's speed event at the 2026 World Climbing Series in Chamonix, France, on Saturday night local time (July 11).
The victory marked Dewi's second consecutive title, following her win at the Krakow series just last week.
"I'm very happy. Tonight, I had the best performance and just enjoyed myself. I'm happy to get this gold for my country and my team," Dewi said after the race, as quoted by the official World Climbing website.
In the final round, she delivered a dominant performance to defeat Italy's Giulia Randi. The Indonesian athlete clocked in at 6.22 seconds, finishing comfortably ahead of Randi's 6.51 seconds.
