Batam, Riau Islands, Aug. 5 -- Indonesia's Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin said Indonesia's armed forces have begun meeting key requirements for weapons systems and ammunition after the government stepped up efforts to strengthen the country's defense capabilities.

Sjafrie made the remarks after inspecting an integrated military exercise involving the army, navy, and air force in Lingga District, Riau Islands Province, on Wednesday.

"I have seen firsthand that the Indonesian military's combat strength, including its weapons systems, management quality and ammunition needs, from small-caliber to large-caliber rounds, are now being met," Sjafrie said.
