Jakarta, July 16 -- The 19 percent import tariff imposed by the US President Donald Trump administration on Indonesian goods is among the lowest for Asian countries, according to the Presidential Communication Office (PCO) on Wednesday.

PCO Chief Hasan Nasbi stated that Vietnam previously faced a 46 percent tariff and, after negotiations, succeeded in lowering it to only the latest rate of 20 percent.

"Everyone lauded Vietnam for successfully negotiating with the US administration. But now, our government managed to negotiate from the initial (32 percent) tariff to 19 percent, lower than other Asian countries," Nasbi noted in a press conference here.
