Jakarta, Aug. 10 -- Indonesia's Deputy Minister of Law Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej has stressed that the draft Bill on the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP Bill) is based on the philosophy of protecting human rights from arbitrary actions.
"When we talk about the rights of victims, suspects, women, witnesses, and people with disabilities, we will accommodate them all," he said.
Hiariej made the statement during a discussion with human rights activist Haris Azhar at the Indonesian Islamic University (UII) in Yogyakarta on Saturday, according to a press release issued on Sunday.
