Jakarta, May 4 -- Indonesia recorded a surge in tourism during March 2026, with foreign arrivals hitting 1.09 million and domestic trips rising sharply amid holiday travel, according to official data released by Statistics Indonesia (BPS) Monday.
The monthly figure represents a 10.50 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
Total international arrivals for the first quarter reached 3.44 million, marking an 8.62 percent year-on-year growth.
"Foreign tourist arrivals from January to March 2026 represent the highest achievement since 2020," said Ateng Hartono, BPS Deputy for Distribution and Service Statistics.
