Jakarta, Sept. 23 -- Indonesia recorded 6.11 billion digital payment transactions in August 2026, marking a 40.36 percent year-on-year surge, according to Bank Indonesia (BI).

"The volume of digital payment transactions reached 6.11 billion-growing 40.36 percent yoy in August 2026-supported by the expansion of digital payment acceptance," BI Governor Destry Damayanti stated following the central bank's board of governors meeting in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Destry explained that the sustained growth in digital economic and financial transactions was supported by a secure, smooth, and reliable national payment system infrastructure.
