Jakarta, Sept. 17 -- Indonesia holds the world's second-largest geothermal energy capacity, positioning itself as a global leader in the clean energy transition, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said Wednesday.

"Indonesia is one of the largest geothermal hubs globally, second only to the United States," Lahadalia stated at the 11th Indonesia International Geothermal Convention and Exhibition (IIGCE) 2025 in Jakarta.

Indonesia's installed geothermal capacity stands at 2,744 megawatts (MW), while the United States leads with 3,937 MW. The archipelago's total geothermal potential and reserves are estimated at 23,742 MW.
