Jakarta, Sept. 7 -- Situated along the Pacific Ring of Fire, Indonesia is home to roughly 500 volcanoes, with 127 classified as active, leaving the archipelago exposed to frequent eruptions that pose threats to community health and safety.

As the country enters September 2026, eruptions were recorded at several volcanoes, including Mount Ile Lewotolok in East Nusa Tenggara, Mount Semeru in East Java, Mount Sinabung in North Sumatra, and Mount Anak Krakatau in Lampung.
