Jakarta, Oct. 28 -- Indonesia's Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Affairs expects around 50,000 priority pilgrims to join the murur scheme during the 2026 Hajj season to help reduce congestion and health risks caused by overcrowding and extreme heat.

Deputy Minister Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak stated in Jakarta on Tuesday that the murur strategy would continue, with priority given to elderly pilgrims, people with disabilities, and their companions.

"The murur strategy will remain in place, giving priority to elderly pilgrims, persons with disabilities, and their attendants," he remarked.

Under the murur mechanism, pilgrims pass through Muzdalifah without leaving their vehicles after performing wukuf in Arafah and proceed directly to Mina.
