Kupang, April 3 -- Indonesia plans to renovate up to 5,000 homes in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) this year to improve living standards, marking a sharp increase from 436 units in 2025, the provincial governor said.

Governor Melki Laka Lena said the program targets low-income communities and reflects stronger central government support for housing in the eastern province.

"We see an increase from 436 housing units in 2025 to 5,000 this year. This is a major step toward helping poor communities access decent housing," he said in Kupang on Friday.

The initiative was among key outcomes of Lena's meeting with Housing and Settlements Minister Maruarar Sirait in Jakarta on Thursday.
