Indonesia operates Ro-Ro ships in border area, cuts logistics cost
Natuna, July 28 -- The Natuna Transportation Office in Indonesia's Riau Islands Province said the government's roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) ferry services are helping improve the distribution of goods and reduce logistics costs in the country's border region.
Head of the Natuna Transportation Office Allazi said here on Tuesday that Ro-Ro vessels are specifically designed to transport motor vehicles, including cars, trucks, buses, and motorcycles, as well as passengers.
Ro-Ro ferries in Natuna are commonly used by businesses to transport staple goods by truck from Tanjung Uban in Bintan to Natuna and from Sintete in West Kalimantan to Natuna.
