Indonesia, July 15 -- The Ministry of Agriculture ( Kementan ) announced on Tuesday that Indonesia has not only achieved self-sufficiency in chicken meat and eggs, but also recorded surplus production of both commodities.

"Indonesia has achieved self-sufficiency in chicken meat and eggs, achieving surpluses of 0.12 million tons and 0.17 million tons, respectively," Director General of Livestock and Animal Health at the Ministry of Agriculture Agung Suganda said in Probolinggo, East Java.

The government is making efforts to keep poultry and egg prices stable at the farmer level and ensure they do not fall below the cost of production.
