Indonesia marks fourth year without terrorist attacks
Jakarta, Aug. 21 -- Indonesia has gone four consecutive years without a terrorist attack, Deputy Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Lodewijk F. Paulus said on Friday, urging continued vigilance.
"Let's stay vigilant against terrorism. Thankfully, we have entered our fourth year of zero attacks. This is something we must continue to safeguard," he said.
The government, through the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) and police Special Detachment 88 (Densus 88), works with the public to prevent terrorist incidents, he said.
Terrorism and violent extremism are not merely crimes against individuals but crimes against humanity that undermine the public's sense of security, Lodewijk said.
