Jakarta, Oct. 13 -- The Indonesian government has begun requiring radioactive-free certificates for shrimp exporters targeting the United States market, in response to a recent import alert issued by the US Food and Drug Administration.

Expert Staff for Digital Transformation and Inter-Agency Relations at the Coordinating Ministry for Food Bara Krishna Hasibuan confirmed on Monday that both the Indonesian and US governments have agreed on the certification mechanism.

"Both countries have agreed that the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) will act as the certifying entity (CE) that issues CS-137 contamination-free certification for shrimp exports to the United States," Hasibuan stated.
