Jakarta, July 9 -- Indonesia officially launched the Carbon Unit Registration System (SRUK) to strengthen governance and accelerate carbon trading in the country.

Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni in Jakarta on Thursday stated that the registration system is a crucial instrument for realizing the potential of an inclusive green economy in Indonesia.

As the first step in implementing carbon trading under the new system, the minister reported that the government has issued trading permits for four Forest Utilization Business Permits (PBPH) since July 6, 2026.

The strategic permits have been allocated proportionally, covering three concession-scale PBPH corporations and one community-level social forestry management group.
