Jakarta, May 21 -- Foreign Minister Sugiono stated that the government is in intensive communication with all parties, including the hijackers of the MT Honour 25, in an effort to rescue four Indonesian crew members held hostage in Somalia.

"We have been communicating, including directly with the hijackers," Sugiono said on Wednesday, May 20, following a working meeting with Commission I of the House of Representatives at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta.

To optimize the rescue operations and ensure the crew's safety, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has engaged the Indonesian embassies in Nairobi and Islamabad, as well as the consulate general in Karachi.
