Jakarta, Aug. 5 -- Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa expressed optimism, Wednesday, that Indonesia's economic growth could reach nearly 6 percent in the second half of 2026, following a strong 5.29 percent expansion in the second quarter.

Official data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) showed the economy grew 5.29 percent year-on-year in the April-June period (Q2), outperforming the 5.12 percent recorded in Q2 2025, though easing slightly from 5.61 percent in the first quarter.

"If we look at it, we can grow 5.29 percent, which is quite good in the current situation," Sadewa told a media briefing in Jakarta, noting that the growth reflects strong resilience despite global headwinds and rising crude oil prices that weighed on exports....
