Jakarta, Oct. 3 -- Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono announced that Indonesia is actively seeking opportunities to export durians directly to China, bypassing intermediary countries such as Thailand and Malaysia to increase profit margins.
Sudaryono revealed that he had recently met with China's Deputy Minister of Agriculture to discuss the potential for direct export arrangements. During the meeting, he emphasized Indonesia's intention to accelerate shipments of durian straight to China.
"Until now, our durians have been exported to Thailand and then re-exported to China. We only earn about 10 percent profit that way. If we export directly to China, the margin could reach 30 percent," Sudaryono told reporters here on Friday.
