Indonesia is exploring expanded cooperation with California in investment, technology, and clean energy to strengthen economic ties with the United States, officials said on Wednesday.

The discussions were led by Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in San Francisco Yohpy Ichsan Wardana during meetings with California State Treasurer Fiona Ma and Chief Executive Officer of the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) Marcie Frost at Wisma Indonesia.

"Indonesia and California have complementary strengths-California in innovation, technology, and capital, and Indonesia in market scale, growth, and strategic positioning in Southeast Asia," Yohpy said in a statement.
