Jakarta, June 26 -- Indonesia is exploring a bid to host the 18th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP18 CBD), scheduled for 2028.

Environment Minister Jumhur Hidayat said in a statement on Friday that the nomination plan has received support from stakeholders both at home and abroad.

"As one of the world's most biodiverse countries, Indonesia has great potential to develop conservation-based financing mechanisms that protect ecosystems while generating economic benefits," he said.

The plan was discussed during Jumhur's meeting with International Advisory Panel on Biodiversity Credits (IAPB) Co-Chair Dame Amelia Fawcett in London on Thursday on the sidelines of London Climate Week.
