Jakarta, July 26 -- The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) stated that Indonesia welcomes French President Emmanuel Macron's decision to recognize the State of Palestine.

According to a statement from the official X account @Kemlu_RI in Jakarta on Saturday, the recognition is a positive step toward securing the future of a sovereign and independent Palestinian state through a two-state solution.

"This is a positive path to preserve the prospect of a sovereign and independent State of Palestine within its 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, under the Two-State Solution," the statement read.

Furthermore, Indonesia urged all countries that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to follow France's lead.
