Jakarta, June 24 -- The Indonesian para-athletics team emerged as overall champion at the 2026 World Para Athletics Grand Prix held in Tunisia from June 12-20.

Indonesia collected 15 gold, seven silver, and seven bronze medals, finishing joint-first in the medal standings alongside Ukraine, which recorded an identical medal tally.

Coordinator of the Indonesian para-athletics coaching team, Purwo Adi Sanyoto, said in a statement received on Tuesday that the results in Tunisia represent an important step in Indonesia's effort to qualify for the 2026 Asian Para Games in Nagoya, Japan.

He said competition among participating countries, particularly those from Asia, was extremely intense as athletes sought valuable qualification points.
