Jakarta, Aug. 9 -- The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) has condemned Israel's unilateral decision to take control of the Gaza Strip, calling it a gross violation of international law and the United Nations Charter.
Israel's actions will also jeopardize the prospects for peace in the Middle East and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on social media, as monitored in Jakarta on Saturday.
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) affirmed that Israel's occupation of Palestinian territory is illegal and that Israel has no sovereignty over the territory. Therefore, any action taken by Israel cannot alter the legal status of the Palestinian territories, the ministry stated.
