Jakarta, Aug. 23 -- Indonesia's counterterrorism agency is strengthening early detection and prevention systems against radicalism and terrorism down to the village level, with a focus on protecting children and youth from online recruitment.

The National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) is training local security officers and community leaders in Banten Province on August 19-21 as part of a broader strategy to combat extremist ideologies, a BNPT officer said.

Speaking here Friday, BNPT's Deputy for Enforcement and Capacity Building Police Inspector General Faizal Thayeb said the training village supervisory non-commissioned officers (Babinsa), community police officers (Bhabinkamtibmas), and village heads.
