Jakarta, June 17 -- Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana stated that 25,344 tour guides nationwide have received competency certifications, improving service quality and tourism safety in Indonesia.

During a meeting with Commission VII of the House of Representatives (DPR) in Jakarta on Wednesday, she emphasized that her ministry is placing a serious focus on safety and security at tourist destinations.

Data shows that the number of search and rescue (SAR) operations rose to 229 cases in 2025, up from 181 cases in 2024. Meanwhile, the year-to-date figure from January 1 to June 14, 2026, has already reached 111 cases.
