Jakarta, May 4 -- The Indonesian government is strengthening people's digital rights by incorporating the right to be forgotten concept into the revision of the Human Rights Law.
"This comes as a response to the long-term impact of digital footprints on individuals who have not been proven guilty," Human Rights Minister Natalius Pigai said in Jakarta on Monday.
The right to be forgotten is an individual's right to request the removal of personal data, information, or electronic documents from the internet when they are no longer relevant, are inaccurate, or have become outdated, particularly from search engines.
The aim is to protect privacy and reputation, especially regarding past events that have been resolved.
