Jakarta, Feb. 10 -- The Indonesian Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries highlighted its commitment to strengthening the governance of the blue carbon ecosystem as part of efforts to mitigate climate change impacts.

This is aligned with the mandate of Presidential Regulation Number 110 of 2025 on the Implementation of Carbon Pricing and National Greenhouse Gas Control.

The ministry's Director General of Marine Spatial Planning, Kartika Listriana, said in a statement on Tuesday that the ministry is currently identifying 18 indicative locations for the National Strategic Area Zoning Plan for Blue Carbon Reserves, alongside the designation of blue carbon sites in provinces.
